Anterior teeth can be torqued with aligners, although in minor amounts. Torque is typically done in combination with other movements.

When anterior teeth are retracted to close space, lingual root torque is added to facilitate the space closure and help avoid tipping the crowns excessively.

These are typical mechanisms when using fixed appliances and can also be done with aligners, but again within moderate amounts.
