Anterior tooth movement that responds well to this therapy includes; lingual/labial repositioning, rotations, slight mesial/distal shifting and moderate torque changes. Clear Image Aligners from Specialty are generally limited to .5mm per tooth per appliance however each clinician may prescribe custom tooth movements to be built into each aligner, including over-corrections.

The amount of tooth movement introduced into each aligner depends on the total amount of correction required as well as the types of movement - labial/lingual, rotations and combinations of both. We typically reposition teeth up to 0.5mm per tooth per sequence in the aligner series. The amount of IPR required may also affect the amount of tooth movement per aligner.

Our Clear Image Aligner Series includes resetting of the anteriors and cuspids. We recommend only minor changes to the cuspids as they are more difficult to rotate and oftentimes locked into occlusion with the opposing arch. If requested, we can reset the first bicuspids if it involves gaining additional space for correction of the anterior teeth. Some clinicians prefer to perform IPR between the bicuspids and distal to the cuspids with these teeth moved distal to gain anterior space.
